USG - CHEST is an ultrasound examination used to evaluate the chest wall, pleural space, lungs, and surrounding soft tissues for fluid collection, infection, inflammation, or other abnormalities.
USG - CHEST is a non-invasive imaging examination that uses high-frequency sound waves to assess structures within and around the chest region. The scan is commonly used to evaluate pleural fluid (pleural effusion), chest wall abnormalities, lung surface conditions, infections, inflammation, soft tissue swellings, or collections near the lungs.
Chest ultrasound is especially useful for detecting fluid around the lungs, guiding pleural fluid aspiration, and evaluating localized chest pain or swelling. It can also help assess abscesses, masses, rib-related soft tissue abnormalities, and certain lung conditions affecting the outer lung surfaces.
Unlike X-rays or CT scans, ultrasound does not involve radiation exposure and provides real-time imaging. It is safe, painless, and commonly used for bedside assessment, follow-up monitoring, and image-guided procedures.
