About this scan
USG - BILATERAL JOINTS (SHOULDER / ELBOW / WRIST / HIP / KNEE / ANKLE) is a musculoskeletal ultrasound scan used to evaluate both joints on either side of the body for pain, swelling, injury, inflammation, or soft tissue abnormalities.

USG - BILATERAL JOINTS (SHOULDER / ELBOW / WRIST / HIP / KNEE / ANKLE) is a non-invasive imaging examination that uses high-frequency sound waves to assess both corresponding joints and their surrounding soft tissue structures. The scan helps evaluate tendons, ligaments, muscles, bursae, cartilage, joint spaces, and fluid collections in the selected bilateral joints.

This ultrasound is commonly performed to investigate pain, swelling, stiffness, sports injuries, tendon tears, ligament injuries, arthritis, inflammation, bursitis, tendonitis, or joint effusions affecting both sides of the body. Comparing both joints during the examination helps identify subtle abnormalities and assess the extent of disease or injury.

Musculoskeletal ultrasound provides real-time imaging and allows dynamic evaluation during movement, making it useful for diagnosing and monitoring joint and soft tissue conditions. The procedure is safe, painless, radiation-free, and may also assist in guiding injections or aspirations if required.

This scan is performed to:

  • Evaluate pain, swelling, or stiffness in both joints
  • Detect tendon, ligament, or muscle injuries
  • Assess arthritis and inflammatory joint conditions
  • Identify bursitis, tendonitis, or fluid collections
  • Compare both joints for abnormalities or asymmetry
  • Monitor sports injuries or chronic joint disorders
  • Assist in image-guided musculoskeletal procedures if required
