About this scan
X-ray – Nasopharynx Lateral is an imaging test that provides a side view of the nasopharyngeal region to assess airway space and detect adenoid enlargement or abnormalities.

X-ray – Nasopharynx Lateral is a diagnostic imaging procedure used to evaluate the nasopharynx, the upper part of the throat located behind the nose. This lateral (side) view helps assess the airway space and the size of adenoids, which are lymphoid tissues present in this region.

The test is commonly used to detect enlarged adenoids, especially in children, which can cause breathing difficulties, snoring, nasal blockage, or sleep-related issues. It may also help identify structural abnormalities affecting the airway.

This imaging is quick, non-invasive, and plays an important role in diagnosing conditions related to airway obstruction and guiding appropriate treatment.

The purpose of the X-ray – Nasopharynx Lateral test is to:

  • Evaluate the nasopharyngeal airway
  • Detect adenoid enlargement
  • Assess airway obstruction
  • Identify structural abnormalities
  • Support diagnosis of breathing-related conditions
