About this scan
MRI of the sternoclavicular joint is a non-invasive imaging test used to evaluate the joint between the sternum and clavicle, including surrounding soft tissues and ligaments.

MRI – Sternoclavicular Joint is an advanced imaging procedure that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to generate detailed images of the sternoclavicular joint, where the collarbone meets the breastbone. It provides excellent visualization of bones, cartilage, ligaments, and surrounding soft tissues.

This scan is useful in diagnosing joint pain, inflammation, infections, trauma, dislocations, and degenerative conditions. It is also helpful in detecting tumors or abnormalities affecting this joint. MRI offers high accuracy and does not involve radiation, making it a safe and effective diagnostic tool.

This test is recommended for individuals:

  • Experiencing pain near the collarbone or upper chest
  • With swelling or tenderness in the joint area
  • Suspected of joint injury or dislocation
  • Having limited movement of the shoulder or upper chest
  • With signs of infection or inflammation
  • With inconclusive results from other imaging tests
Available Exclusively at these Prima Diagnostics Centres: Jayanagar, Whitefield, and Yelahanka
