About this scan
MRI - Calcaneum is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the calcaneum (heel bone), aiding in the diagnosis of fractures, tumors, and other conditions affecting the heel.

MRI – Calcaneum is an advanced imaging procedure that focuses on detailed evaluation of the calcaneum (heel bone) along with surrounding structures such as tendons, ligaments, muscles, nerves, and soft tissues. It uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce high-resolution images for accurate diagnosis.

This scan is highly effective in detecting conditions such as stress fractures, heel pain causes, plantar fasciitis, tendon injuries (especially Achilles tendon), infections, inflammation, bone marrow edema, and tumors. It is particularly useful when X-rays do not clearly identify the source of heel pain.

MRI provides excellent soft tissue contrast and allows early detection of subtle abnormalities, making it valuable for both diagnosis and treatment planning. The procedure is safe, painless, and does not involve radiation.

This test is recommended for individuals:

  • Experiencing persistent heel pain
  • Suspected of stress fracture or tendon injury
  • With swelling or inflammation in the heel region
  • Having sports-related foot injuries
  • With unexplained heel discomfort
  • Requiring detailed evaluation of heel structures
