About this scan
MRI Brain CSF Flow Study is a diagnostic imaging technique that uses magnetic resonance imaging to assess the movement of cerebrospinal fluid within the brain, aiding in the evaluation of hydrocephalus and related conditions.

MRI – Brain CSF Flow Study is an advanced imaging technique that evaluates the movement and dynamics of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the brain’s ventricles and surrounding spaces. Using specialized MRI sequences (such as phase-contrast imaging), this test provides both anatomical and functional information about CSF circulation.

This scan is particularly useful in diagnosing conditions like hydrocephalus, normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), Chiari malformation, CSF flow obstruction, and other disorders affecting CSF dynamics. It helps determine whether CSF flow is normal, reduced, or blocked, which is crucial for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

MRI CSF Flow Study is non-invasive, does not involve radiation, and offers detailed visualization of fluid movement in real time. It plays an important role in guiding surgical decisions, such as shunt placement, and in monitoring treatment outcomes.

This test is recommended for individuals:

  • Suspected of hydrocephalus or CSF circulation disorders
  • Experiencing symptoms like headaches, balance issues, or memory problems
  • With suspected Chiari malformation
  • Showing signs of increased intracranial pressure
  • Requiring evaluation before neurosurgical procedures
  • Undergoing follow-up after CSF-related treatments
Available Exclusively at these Prima Diagnostics Centres: Jayanagar, Whitefield, and Yelahanka
