BLOOD UREA NITROGEN (BUN)
A Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) test
measures the amount of nitrogen in the blood that comes from urea, a waste product produced in the liver when the body breaks down protein. It is primarily used to assess kidney function, as healthy kidneys remove urea from the blood.
This test is recommended to:
- Assess kidney function
- Diagnose kidney disorders
- Monitor kidney disease progression
- Evaluate dehydration and metabolic conditions
- Support routine health check-ups.
